2010:
Successful short run of one-woman show Oscar and The Pink Lady at the Unicorn Theatre
Anna played the characters in this beautiful novella by Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt and money was specifically raised and sent to a Leukaemia charity.
Synopsis:
Oscar, a 10 yr old boy has not responded to treatment to a particular form of leukaemia and lives in a hospital in France. Because no one talks to him about his illness or what is likely to happen, he feels isolated, alone, and miserable. When Granny Rose, an elderly hospital volunteer ("pink lady") with an exotic past, enters Oscar's life, she brings honesty, warmth, and comfort to the lost child known as Egg Head. Guided by this incredible person -a blunt-spoken, irreverent woman who touches him, kisses him, and tells him wondrous stories of her wrestling feats- the boy grows stronger in his short journey to death. Who wouldn't under the influence of the Strangler of Languedoc?
Standing ovations on the last performance have led to a desire for further development of this venture. It is essential to first contact the insightful, brilliant author of this exquisite and humorous, poignant and witty novella before any developments take place. Anyone knowing Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt's professional contact details please do contact Anna through her agent as soon as possible. Anna is very committed to promoting the work of Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt here in England and would hope a correspondence and meeting could take place at some point in the near future at the writer's convenience.
